Numeracy

From Foundation to Grade 6, the Numeracy program is taught under the domains of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry and Statistics and Probability as outlined by the Australian Curriculum.  It develops the numeracy capabilities that all students need in their personal, work and civic life, and provides the fundamentals on which mathematical specialties and professional applications of mathematics are built.

All students undertake a 1 hour numeracy session each day.

During these sessions, the students are given the opportunity to explore and develop their knowledge in these areas through both explicit teaching and hands on experiences which require the use of concrete materials for counting, grouping, pouring, matching, surveying, tallying, measuring, constructing and so on.

Students are encouraged to develop problem solving skills through investigations which require them to apply knowledge already gained to new and challenging situations.

All students have access to the Mathletics Program which can be used both at school and at home. Access to the Internet is required.
